Here we have a 1975 GTR Banjo with original hard case.
First offered in 1974, they were sold through approximately 1978. They were made for GTR by Iida. GTR stands for George Gruhn, Tut Taylor and Randy Wood, three dealers/builders in the Nashville scene in the mid 70’s. This is a really nice example of the first high quality imported bluegrass banjos.
Features include a fiddle-cut peghead, mahogany neck and sunburst finished double white-bound resonator; white-bound rosewood fingerboard with hearts and flowers inlays; 1-3/16”nut width, 26-1/2” scale, 3/4” maple rim; 20-hole flathead tone ring; tube and plate flange; dual co-rods, clamshell tailpiece; chrome plated hardware, and geared tuners. (GTR label located inside the rim.)
